Swedish / Relaxation Massage
Swedish relaxation massage techniques are used primarily to induce a relaxation response in the body. This is why “Swedish massage” is often interchanged with “Relaxation massage” when referring to this technique.
The core service we offer at the Massage and Movement Company is Remedial Massage.
Remedial massage is a term for a range of treatment styles with the particular goal of remediating a medical, musculoskeletal or pathological condition.
Exercise places a tremendous stress on our body. Intense training brings about progressive fatigue and decrease in effectiveness in athlete’s activity. The Athlete, of all levels, from the new jogger to the professional marathon runner can become prone to injury. During sporting activity tremendous stress is placed on the tendons and ligaments, sometimes stretching them in excess and tearing muscle fibres. Fluid accumulates and creates soreness and stiffness.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish massage in that similar strokes are used, but at a much slower tempo and with more force applied. The deeper pressure is more effective for releasing tension in the denser deeper muscle layers of the body.
